This is truly REAP’s concept of education – no walls, no structures, no buildings, no limitations.  It takes literacy anywhere and everywhere so long as it reaches the marginalized children on the street, slum or far away remote villages.  REAP is not a school system; it is a campaign to eradicate illiteracy.  It is guided by three principles: every child should be in school, no child working and every child learning well.  It strives to give the best to the least.

REAP launched a virtual war on illiteracy through a mass campaign 15 years ago.  Today it has reached 350 literacy centers spanning the length and breadth of Mumbai and surrounding rural areas up to Khardi.  The campaign covers more than 7,000 learners annually which include rag-pickers, child laborers, street, slum and tribal children.  The Programme is open to all irrespective of caste and creed.REAP’s intervention is two-fold: to ensure the right of every child to be in school and for those involved in child labour a programme to wean them away from it.   Over the years, REAP has successfully mainstreamed about 80,000 in school for continuing education.
