REAP: A Long Journey of Education, Transformation and Social Change

REAP: A Long Journey of Education, Transformation and Social Change
REAP is one of the longest serving non-profit working dedicatedly to promote quality education for the disadvantaged and vulnerable children since the year 1998. Over the years, it learnt, innovated and expanded its work both geographically and added new sectors related to education. Starting from 2023, it lunched STEM education as a flagship intervention which started growing rapidly.
REAP’s journey began with a simple yet powerful vision—to provide quality education to the children deprived of their fundamental right. The Founder of REAP, Trevor Mirranda started this journey in 1998 with few shoe shining boys in Church gate railway station in Mumbai by opening a platform school. He opened Learning Centres for the shoe shine boys, rag pickers, child laborers and other street children, served to provide bridge education and then got them admitted to schools.
Gradually, REAP turned into a movement and expanded to 300 Centres benefitting 6000+ children annually. REAP promoted girl’s education, digital literacy along with numeracy and language skills, served the poorest excluded children in the society.
